reaching the dream realisers
While drifting around the net pondering about reaching out

to the potential users of this community, in order to try and realise my dream about starting a community, I stumbled upon this blog post about forgetting to dream (rather learning to dream again).
It made me happy to find a similar minded person. Reading the large number of comments also showed that there is indeed a potential audience for this site I think.
The question is, how is the audience reached. I have tried to leave a comment on the blog post. The lipari story taught me that it is possible to attract a lot of readers by interacting with thriving communities. I can show statistics if interest is expressed. None of the sailors got interested enough to actually create a login though. So lesson learned is that links in other communities can create traffic, but it need to be the right audience if it should do more than that,
Another approach I am taking to attracting an audience is google advertising. You may have noted the google banners on this site. The banners are here for several reasons. First reason is, of course, that it would be nice to get expenses covered. Second, I actually think contextual ads can be relevant for dreams and other content posted here. For example working on a dream of moving to Australia, could show links to cheap tickets or other relevant to the dream content. It might be a good combination of information.
I digress, the google advertising led them to send me an offer for "free" advertisements. Not exactly free, but cheap enough that I decided to try it out. I am still playing with the concept, but you may start to see ads for this community on google and partner sites. If you want to help out you are welcome to suggest keywords you think would be relevant to potential users of this site, I can share the keywords if asked.
